При благоприятных обстоятельствах наступает момент, когда длительная госпитализация пациенту больше не нужна. Вот критерии, по которым об этом можно судить: у пациента в достаточной мере появились понимание или способность к интроспекции, которые усиливают реалистичную мотивацию продолжать терапию, причем эта мотивация проявляется в желании и способности в большей мере отвечать за свою жизнь, о чем можно судить по жизни пациента в отделении; терапевтические взаимоотношения стали довольно прочными, и можно думать, что они продолжатся после выписки пациента; и пациент способен жить нормальной социальной жизнью во внешнем мире. Значительное уменьшение или разрешение вторичной выгоды от болезни – дополнительный важный показатель того, что цели длительной госпитализации были достигнуты.
